Korea University Anam Hospital Leading Medical Device Localization... Business Agreement with Manufacturer

[Asia Economy Reporter Myunghwan Lee] Korea University Anam Hospital Medical Platform Win-Win Center announced on the 18th that it has signed a business agreement with 10 domestic manufacturers. This agreement was made to establish a domestic medical device ecosystem that can enhance the medical and treatment environment by strengthening the capabilities of domestic medical devices.

With the signing of the agreement, the center achieved results for the first time in about two and a half years since the agreement with medical device distributors and clinical trial contract organizations in July 2020. Researchers plan to work toward the goal from product development to commercialization through clinical research close to field demand.

The companies and organizations that signed the agreement with the Medical Platform Win-Win Center are Precision Bio, Endovision, BMA, Vistos, Storage Solution for Doctors, CMDI, Botem, Sesin Precision, DK Medical Solution, and the Korea Medical Device Industry Cooperative.

Based on this agreement, the center will discover medical devices reflecting the demands of the medical field and build a medical device industry ecosystem through joint research and development and technology exchange.

Center Director Yoon Seung-joo said, "Due to the COVID-19 crisis, disruptions occurred in the supply of domestic medical materials, making us keenly aware of the necessity of a domestic medical supplies production system. We promise to advance into the global market by improving technology to maintain production facilities of domestic medical device manufacturers, exploring market entry, and securing investment."

The Medical Platform Win-Win Center was launched in September 2014 as the Medical Device Win-Win Project Group, supporting early-stage research establishment between hospitals and companies and preventing disputes, successfully completing projects from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. It was re-established as an official organization of Korea University Anam Hospital in September 2019, signed agreements with 10 medical device distribution companies in 2020, and carried out large-scale project orders and research and development projects.
