Suseo Station 'Health Donation Staircase' Unveiling Ceremony

Gangnam Severance Hospital and SR officials are taking a commemorative photo at the unveiling ceremony of the 'Health Donation Staircase' at SRT Suseo Station.

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] Gangnam Severance Hospital announced on the 18th that it held the '2023 Health Donation Staircase Unveiling Ceremony' at SRT Suseo Station in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

Gangnam Severance Hospital and SR, the operator of SRT, have jointly operated the health donation staircase installed at Suseo Station in September 2019 for the health of railway users. Each time one person uses the stairs, both organizations donate 10 won each to accumulate social contribution funds.

The annual accumulated donation of about 20 million won has been delivered to Make-A-Wish Korea Chapter and used for the 'Wish Fulfillment Project' that has granted the wishes of a total of eight children with intractable diseases so far.

This unveiling ceremony was held as the operation of the stairs, which had been restricted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, resumed. The stairs were also refurbished with a new design to welcome railway users, and an exhibition space illustrating the wish fulfillment stories of the children was prepared. The exhibition captured the happy day of the children on the day their wishes were fulfilled, such as a child who received a personal computer they wanted and a child who had a course meal with their family.

Song Young-gu, director of Gangnam Severance Hospital, said, "We will faithfully fulfill the role of a medical institution practicing the spirit of sharing and continue to carry out joint social contribution activities based on strong mutual trust with SR."

Lee Jong-guk, CEO of SR, said, "Gangnam Severance Hospital and SR are creating new services and social contribution models where railways and medical care meet, such as the Suseo Station Health Lounge and the Health Donation Staircase," adding, "We will continue to bring happiness to customers in various fields and lead innovation in railway services."
