Wonik Group Launches New Digital Health and Beauty Care Business... Completes Acquisition of 'CareLabs'

[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] CareLabs, the nation's No.1 digital health and beauty care platform operator, has joined the Wonik Group.


CareLabs announced on the 18th that all sale procedures conducted over the past two months have been smoothly completed, welcoming Wonik Holdings as its new largest shareholder. The corporate value of CareLabs evaluated during the sale process was approximately 270 billion KRW, and Wonik Holdings invested a total of 62 billion KRW to acquire a 23.27% stake in CareLabs, becoming the largest shareholder.


The company expects that the medical industry network, which has been accumulated over a long period in the history of Wonik Group's growth?one of the predecessor business sectors of Wonik Group that started in 1981 being the medical device business?will serve as an opportunity to further advance the health and beauty care platform businesses under CareLabs, such as Goodoc and Babitok, in the global market.


Wonik Group is a leading mid-sized domestic group with annual sales of 3 trillion KRW, operating a total of 14 domestic and overseas affiliates across various industrial sectors including ▲semiconductors ▲IT ▲services ▲distribution ▲robots ▲medical devices ▲cosmetics. Wonik Holdings, which directly undertook the acquisition of CareLabs, is the business holding company of Wonik Group. It plans to adopt the digital health and beauty care sector as a future new growth business beyond its existing core semiconductor and secondary battery business sectors, and to grow it by taking the first step toward global market expansion.


Shin Jonghyun, CEO of CareLabs, stated, “The digital healthcare industry, which has maintained an average annual growth rate of 18.8% in the global market, is expected to exceed a market size of 630 trillion KRW within the next five years, and demand for the beauty care industry is already occurring worldwide.” He added, “The CareLabs business division, which holds the leading position in the domestic digital health and beauty care platform market, and Wonik Group’s long history in the medical business and domestic and international networks will demonstrate high synergy in the process of becoming the global No.1 business.”


Established in April 2012, CareLabs is a specialized digital health and beauty care company. Its healthcare media platform ‘Goodoc,’ which connects hospitals and users, and the beauty care platform ‘Babitok’ both have the largest number of users in the related domestic industry. In addition, it operates ▲medical field specialized recruiting platform ‘Medijob’ ▲medical customer specialized digital marketing business ‘VibeRC’ ▲CRM software ▲prescription security system business, among others.
