[Asia Economy Reporter Noh Kyung-jo] Hanshin Engineering & Construction announced on the 17th that it received a rating of 'Excellent' or higher for two consecutive years in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's 'Safety Management Level Evaluation.'
Last month, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport disclosed the results of the '2022 Safety Management Level Evaluation' conducted for participants in public construction projects. The main evaluation criteria included the establishment of safety management plans and the operation of construction safety systems, with final results calculated across five rating levels.
In this evaluation, Hanshin Engineering & Construction received an Excellent rating. This rating requires a score between 85 and 95 out of 100 points. Among a total of 248 companies, only 12 construction firms received ratings of Excellent or higher.
Previously, at the end of 2021, Hanshin Engineering & Construction also earned a 'Very Excellent' rating (95 points or higher out of 100). Among 281 companies evaluated at that time, only six received the Very Excellent rating.
Having had no major accidents for two consecutive years, Hanshin Engineering & Construction set and announced its safety and health goal for this year as 'Zero Major Accidents (0).' Last year, the company appointed a Chief Safety Officer and revamped its overall safety and health management system by obtaining ISO 45001 certification. Additionally, it operates safety systems such as ▲ the 'Smart Safety and Health System' using smart construction equipment, ▲ the 'Layered Safety and Health Monitoring System' combining online and offline activities, and ▲ the 'Executive On-site Safety and Health Inspection,' where management directly checks site safety monthly, all aimed at proactively identifying detailed risk factors on-site.
A representative of Hanshin Engineering & Construction stated, "We have continuously built systems to prevent safety accidents in advance, and this year, these systems are becoming more systematic. While constructing high-quality buildings is important, a culture that prioritizes safety must come first. We will strive to lead a safe construction culture."
