[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeonbuk Jeongeup City announced on the 17th that it is accepting applications for the 2023 Women Farmers Saengsaeng Card (formerly Saengsaeng Voucher Card) support project until the 28th of next month.

This project is funded with a total budget of 600 million KRW to provide health and cultural activity opportunities to women farmers living in poor cultural conditions.

It was also established to improve the welfare of women farmers by preventing chronic diseases caused by repetitive farming work and housework.

The support target is women farmers and fishery workers residing in rural areas who are actually engaged in farming, aged 20 or older and under 75.

Until last year, only households with less than 50,000㎡ of farmland ownership (combined household members) were eligible, but from this year, the farmland ownership area restriction per household has been removed to expand the support target.

Applications can be submitted at the town or township offices and neighborhood community centers of the applicant’s residence until the 28th of next month.

The Saengsaeng Card is issued through NongHyup branches, and 150,000 KRW per person (including a 20,000 KRW self-payment) is supported.

The card can be used in all industries (except medical institutions, entertainment, and gambling-related industries), such as travel agencies, sports goods stores, beauty salons, cosmetics stores, movie theaters, jjimjilbangs, swimming pools, bookstores, photo studios, and eyeglass shops.

A city official said, “We will continue to provide opportunities for the prevention and treatment of farmer’s diseases such as arthritis and chronic diseases among women farmers and fishery workers, as well as opportunities for cultural and leisure activities in underdeveloped areas,” adding, “We will do our best to improve the welfare of women farmers who are working hard in the harsh agricultural and rural environment.”
