On the 17th, Chungnam Province announced that Governor Kim Tae-heum of Chungnam Province, Choi Jae-gu, Mayor of Yesan County, and Kim Han-young, President of the Korea Rail Network Authority, met and signed the 'Seohae Line Double-Track Railway Sapgyo Station New Construction Project Implementation Agreement.'
Sapgyo Station on the Seohae Line will be built in the Sapgyo-ri area of Sapgyo-eup, Yesan County, with an investment of 27.1 billion KRW.
According to the agreement, the province and Yesan County will bear the entire project cost for the construction of Sapgyo Station and cooperate in various permits, compensation, and handling of civil complaints during the construction process.
The Korea Rail Network Authority will be responsible for design and construction implementation, project management including service supervision, various permit applications, and handling of civil complaints.
Sapgyo Station is scheduled to complete the design competition, basic and detailed designs by next year, followed by two years of construction, and is expected to open in 2025.
Once the installation of Sapgyo Station is completed, stations will be constructed in all cities and counties along the Seohae Line within the province, enhancing the mobility convenience for residents and revitalizing the local economy.
The Seohae Line, where Sapgyo Station will be installed, is being constructed over a total length of 90.01 km connecting Hongseong to Songsan, Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province. The total project cost is 4.1487 trillion KRW, with an expected opening in 2024.
As of the end of December last year, the Seohae Line's construction progress rate was 91.6%, with core track formation and finishing works such as power, signaling, and communication underway.
Governor Kim said, “Sapgyo Station will serve as a gateway to Yesan and Chungnam Innovation City, improving accessibility to the metropolitan area and positively influencing the attraction of public institutions and companies.” He added, “The province plans to actively pursue the establishment of the Seohae Axis high-speed rail network connecting the Gyeongbu High-Speed Line, Seohae Line, and Janghang Line, as well as the expansion of the highway network.”
