Gominjeong: "Han Donghoon Should Resign as Minister for 'Native Corruption' Remarks"

"Prosecutors, thinking of putting it on the Seol table"
"Need to act more refined"

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, received a summons for investigation related to the 'Daejang-dong and Wirye' breach of trust allegations six days after attending the prosecution for questioning regarding the 'Seongnam FC' sponsorship fund suspicion on the 10th. Ko Min-jung, a Supreme Council member of the Democratic Party, said this was "somewhat expected." She called the Minister of Justice Han Dong-hoon, who referred to the Daejang-dong case as 'local corruption,' "someone who should resign from his position."

On the 17th, Supreme Council member Ko said on MBC's 'Kim Jong-bae's Focus,' "The Minister used words like 'local corruption crime,' but in fact, he has made so many remarks that warrant his resignation," expressing her opinion.

'Local corruption' refers to Minister Han's explanation during his visit to the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee the previous day, describing Lee's 'Daejang-dong and Wirye' breach of trust case as "a local corruption crime that occurred in Seongnam City."

She said, "Discussing each individual case one by one is something to be done in court, and if you are the prosecution or the Minister of Justice, it is common sense not to comment on individual cases at all," adding, "I don't know if he has no intention of continuing as minister or if he is confident that he is above the law, but it seems he has already lost any proper attitude expected of a minister."

Regarding Lee's re-summons, she said, "Since it is around the Lunar New Year, and everyone knows it is a political prosecution, they naturally thought to put it on the Lunar New Year table first, so it is not very surprising."

She continued, "The prosecution will likely continue to raise or leak each investigation case one by one as the time comes, but we cannot keep being dragged along every time," and "if the prosecution has even a little consideration for the Republic of Korea, I hope they act with more refinement."
