BGF Welfare Foundation announced on the 17th that it will provide meals to vulnerable children at risk of food insecurity during the school vacation period.

The meal support for children at risk of food insecurity during vacations is a child welfare project that BGF Welfare Foundation has been conducting since 2020. It is a social contribution program aimed at helping students who find it difficult to secure meals on their own due to the suspension of school meals.

Starting this month, BGF Welfare Foundation will provide a total of 1,000 meals consisting of 8 types, including seaweed soup rice, omelet rice, and jangjorim bibimbap, to students at 10 educational welfare project schools located in Nam-gu, Jung-gu, and Michuhol-gu in Incheon. The beneficiaries are about 90 elementary school students from low-income families, single-parent families, and grandparent-headed families who are in blind spots and at risk of food insecurity and in urgent need of support. The support items will be delivered to the children through educational welfare experts at each school, and during delivery, the experts will visit the children's residences in person to check their health status and safety.

BGF Welfare Foundation will continue the “Warm Meal Delivered Home” project this year, which supports weekend meals for children at risk of food insecurity. So far, through this project, a total of 13,500 meals have been provided to over 200 children from 140 households at risk of food insecurity.

On the 20th, BGF Welfare Foundation will deliver donated items prepared through the “Seol Gift Set Donation Campaign” to the child welfare specialized organization “We Start.” This campaign allows customers to donate the +1 product they receive when purchasing a specific gift set according to their will, and BGF Retail matches the donation by contributing the same quantity.

Yang Kyung-hee, Director of BGF Welfare Foundation, said, “As the meal conditions for vulnerable children have become more difficult due to the recent rapid rise in prices, warm interest from our society is very urgent,” adding, “We will continue to discover and expand more effective support programs to protect the health and safety of our children.”
