Ryugyeonggi Jungnang-gu Mayor Visits Local Traditional Market for Lunar New Year Celebration On the afternoon of the 16th, Ryugyeonggi, the mayor of Jungnang-gu, visited Dongwon Traditional General Market and purchased rice cakes using Onnuri gift certificates.

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, will visit seven local traditional markets from the 16th to the 19th for four days ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday to inspect the sites, encourage merchants, and share opinions.


On the afternoon of the 16th, Mayor Ryu visited Dongwon Traditional General Market and Dongwon Traditional Market Shopping District, purchasing ritual items and engaging in conversations with merchants and residents to carefully check if there were any inconveniences in using the market.


The district is currently conducting Lunar New Year traditional market events to revitalize traditional markets. At seven traditional markets and two alley-type shopping districts, various benefits and enjoyment are provided to residents visiting the markets through discounted sales of ritual items, Onnuri gift certificate giveaways, prize draws, and more.


Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “I hope residents visit the traditional markets to feel the generous hospitality and warm affection of the market and have a richer holiday. We will continue to do our best to revitalize traditional markets to create lively markets that people want to visit.”

Moon Heon-il, Mayor of Guro-gu, Visits Traditional Markets for ‘Jangteo Dalgumi’ Event

Mayor Moon and staff visit five local markets on the 17th and 18th to purchase goods and engage in direct communication with market merchants and residents



Moon Heon-il, Mayor of Guro-gu, visited traditional markets in the area ahead of the Lunar New Year.


Guro-gu announced, “To support merchants struggling with high prices and to revitalize traditional markets, we held the ‘Jangteo Dalgumi’ event on the 17th and 18th.”


‘Jangteo Dalgumi’ is an event where district office staff and consumer protection volunteers visit traditional markets in the district to purchase goods and promote the markets in preparation for the upcoming holiday.


This event was held over two days at five locations: Guro Market, Namguro Market, Garibong Market, Gocheok Neighborhood Market, and Gocheok Alley Shopping District.


Mayor Moon Heon-il and about 250 staff members purchased holiday foods and goods at the markets.

Mayor Moon also showed a communication approach by directly inspecting the sites and listening to the diverse voices of market merchants and visitors.


A Guro-gu official said, “We hope everyone purchases high-quality Lunar New Year goods at affordable prices in the traditional markets and enjoys a joyful holiday.”


Meanwhile, various events were held at the markets ahead of the holiday, selling ritual items at prices lower than the market and offering gift certificates or presents depending on the purchase amount.
