‘Hyundai's Daughter-in-law’ Lydia Ko "Hole-in-One on Honeymoon"

New Zealand Herald Reports Hole-in-One During Honeymoon

World No. 1 Lydia Ko (New Zealand) made a hole-in-one during her honeymoon.

The New Zealand Herald reported on the 16th (local time) that "Lydia Ko enjoyed her honeymoon with her husband, Jung Joon, in New Zealand," adding, "She recorded a hole-in-one at Tara Iti Golf Club (par 71) located in the Mangawhai area of New Zealand's North Island." She was lucky as her tee shot on the 2nd hole (par 3, 182 yards) was swallowed by the hole cup.

After making the hole-in-one, Lydia Ko posted a photo looking at the hole with a disbelief expression and wrote, "It was a great joy." She also shared her thoughts, saying, "I was able to enjoy the wonderful scenery, excellent golf course, and above all, great people." Lydia Ko shot an 8-under-par 63 that day.

Last season, Lydia Ko won three times, including the CME Group Tour Championship, the final event of the LPGA Tour. She had the best year, sweeping the money title, Player of the Year, scoring average, CME Group Race, and most wins. She reclaimed the world No. 1 ranking for the first time in 5 years and 5 months since June 2017. Lydia Ko married Jung Joon, the only son of Hyundai Card Vice Chairman Jung Tae-young, on the 30th of last month at Myeongdong Cathedral in Jung-gu, Seoul.

Lydia Ko will not participate in the LPGA Tour 2023 season opener, the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament, held in Orlando, Florida, on the 19th. She will compete in the Ladies European Tour (LET) Aramco Saudi Ladies International, held over four days from the 16th of next month at the Royal Greens Golf & Country Club in King Abdullah Economic City, Saudi Arabia.
