[Asia Economy Reporter Byeon Seon-jin] The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that on the 15th (local time), two bodies presumed to be Korean passengers were confirmed at a local hospital in Pokhara, Nepal, following a passenger plane crash.
On the 16th, a consul from the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Nepal, who was dispatched to the crash site, visited Gandaki Medical College Hospital where the victims' bodies were kept, to verify whether any of the deceased were Korean nationals. The consul confirmed two bodies presumed to be Korean based on personal belongings and luggage.
The Nepalese authorities stated that the bodies presumed to be foreign nationals among the victims will be transferred to the capital, Kathmandu, for further necessary examinations to officially confirm their identities, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs added.
On the 15th (local time), near the newly constructed international airport in Pokhara, a central Nepalese resort city, an ATR72 aircraft operated by Nepal Yeti Airlines, carrying 72 passengers from Kathmandu, crashed, resulting in 68 deaths and 4 missing persons. The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal had previously released the passenger list, which included two Koreans with the surname Yoo.
