[Asia Economy Reporter Jo Yujin] Regarding the passenger plane crash in Pokhara, Nepal, the Nepalese police announced that one of the two Korean passengers on board has been included in the list of confirmed deceased.
According to Nepalese media on the 16th, local police stated that as of the morning, the identities of 26 out of 68 bodies recovered from the accident site have been confirmed. Among the confirmed deceased, the name of a Korean passenger in his 40s, Mr. Yoo, was included. However, the survival status of his teenage son, who was traveling with him, has not yet been determined.
The previous day, a Yeti Airlines ATR72, departing from Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, and heading to Pokhara, the gateway to the Annapurna mountain range, crashed near a gorge about 1.5 km from the airport, resulting in at least 68 deaths.
While the aging aircraft and the narrow, poor condition of the airport runway are cited as possible causes of the accident, the exact circumstances are still under investigation.
