Mrs. Kim Invites Mrs. Fatima to Visit Korea

[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] First Lady Kim Keon-hee, who is on a state visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with President Yoon Suk-yeol, attended a dinner hosted by Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Al Ketbi at the 'Bada Palace' in Abu Dhabi on the 15th (local time), according to a written briefing by Chief Public Relations Officer Kim Eun-hye on the 16th.


Sheikha Fatima is the wife of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the first president, and the mother of the current president, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.


First Lady Kim expressed, "I am pleased to meet Sheikha Fatima, who is regarded as the 'Mother of the Nation' in the UAE and enjoys great trust and love from the people," and conveyed her gratitude for Sheikha Fatima's warm hospitality.

Sheikha Fatima also welcomed the visit of the Korean presidential couple, saying, "A state visit of this scale is rare since President Mohammed's inauguration and historically as well," and added, "President Mohammed has a special interest in this."


In response, First Lady Kim invited Sheikha Fatima to Korea, and Sheikha Fatima agreed to visit Korea.


First Lady Kim mentioned that she paid respects at the tomb of the late President Zayed at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in the morning, stating, "I could feel the spirit of President Zayed's tolerance."


Sheikha Fatima, through her son and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court Mansour, who is also President Mohammed's brother, said she would deliver a book related to the late President Zayed, to which First Lady Kim expressed her gratitude.


Furthermore, First Lady Kim expressed great respect for Sheikha Fatima's extensive efforts and interest in improving women's human rights and promoting social participation in the UAE, stating, "I understand that the Mother and Child Supreme Council, founded by Sheikha Fatima, awards the 'Fatima Award' named after her, which is a very meaningful and significant activity."


First Lady Kim also added, "It would be even better if the opportunity to receive this award could be expanded to institutions or individuals worldwide, including Korea."


During the evening gathering, they deepened their friendship through conversations on various topics ranging from Korea's outstanding medical services, K-content, and dramas to commonalities between the UAE royal family and President Yoon and his wife.
