Goheung-gun Promotes Exchange and Cooperation Project Between Jeju and Goheung

Expansion of Distribution Channels, Activation of Tourism and Logistics Exchanges

[Goheung=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shim Jeong-woo] Jeonnam Goheung-gun (Governor Gong Young-min) announced that from the 15th for two days, they visited Jeju Island to promote the Goheung-Jeju exchange cooperation project.

This project aims to expand exchange and cooperation between the two regions, focusing on revitalizing tourism with Jeju Island, expanding logistics, and marketing agricultural and marine products. To this end, on the 16th, Governor Gong Young-min held a meeting with Jeju Governor Oh Young-hoon to discuss the details.

Jeju Island and tourism promotion, logistics expansion, and marketing of agricultural and marine products will expand exchange and cooperation.

This project reflects the strong will of Governor Gong Young-min, who has a deep connection with Jeju Island, having previously served as the Director of Planning and Management Office at Jeju Provincial Government and as the President of the Jeju Development Institute, to revitalize exchange and cooperation between Jeju and Goheung.

Governor Gong Young-min said at the meeting with Governor Oh Young-hoon, "The goal is to revitalize the regional economy of both areas through logistics cooperation by making Nokdong Port in Goheung a forward base for Jeju logistics," and added, "To this end, we aim to increase mutual synergy through the exchange of Goheung rice and other specialties, processed foods, and joint marketing of agricultural and marine specialties."

In response, Governor Oh Young-hoon stated, "We will research the history of exchanges between Goheung and Jeju to discover historical and cultural links between the two regions and promote mutual exchange and cooperation in various fields such as logistics cooperation projects and drone-related businesses."

Meanwhile, Goheung-gun has set up a Goheung-gun promotional booth at Jeju International Airport from the 11th to the 17th for a week, conducting events to promote Goheung-gun’s tourism, return-to-farming and rural migration, and local specialties to visitors to Jeju.
