This campaign was carried out as part of price stabilization measures in anticipation of price increases in agricultural and livestock products and major seasonal items during the Seollal holiday.
About 30 participants, including Shin Myeonghee, president of the Jeongeup branch of the Korea Women Consumers Federation, 20 members, price monitoring agents, and related officials, took part.
In particular, the campaign aimed to promote sound and rational consumption and revitalize the local economy through the use of traditional markets.
Participants monitored price trends of holiday seasonal products such as fruits and agricultural and marine products and urged citizens to purchase local agricultural products and refrain from excessive consumption.
They also encouraged the use of local love gift certificates and traditional market gift certificates and asked merchants to provide accurate price information to establish a proper distribution culture.
Mayor Lee Haksoo said, "We ask for active use of local commercial districts such as traditional markets to revitalize the local economy. Although the high prices place a heavy burden on citizens' households, we will do our best to manage price stability so that everyone can have a prosperous and happy Seollal holiday."
