Korean Senior Citizens Association Yeongyang-gun Branch, "We Will Work Together"
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] The Korea Senior Citizens Association Yeongyang County Branch visited Yeongyang County Office on the 16th to deliver a total donation of 11.7 million won, including 6.7 million won in cash and 5 million won in scholarships, to bring hope to neighbors in need and support the dreams and hopes of local students.
The donation delivered that day is especially meaningful as it was raised voluntarily by the elderly members of 178 senior centers in the area, aiming to overcome the crisis caused by COVID-19 and share warmth with marginalized neighbors.
The Korea Senior Citizens Association Yeongyang-gun Branch, which donated to the 'Hope 2023 Sharing Campaign Fund and Talent Development Scholarship'.
The Yeongyang County Branch raises and donates about 10 million won annually and stated that it plans to continue promoting sharing events to support neighbors in need and students in the region.
An Jaebeom, president of the Yeongyang County Branch, said, “Due to rising prices and economic recession, everyone is facing difficulties, and I donated the money hoping that no neighbor would be left out and that everyone could have a warm winter.” He added, “We will continue to strive to create a community full of love and warmth.”
County Governor Oh Dochang expressed his gratitude, saying, “Thanks to the warm love and care of the senior center members who practiced sharing for their neighbors despite difficult circumstances, it greatly helps in creating a warm community for everyone.”
