CES Best of Innovation Awards, Most Won by Korean Companies... Strong Performance by Startups

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] At this year's International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), South Korea was found to have won the most Best of Innovation Awards among all participating countries. Among the 20 companies that received the Best of Innovation Award, 9 were Korean companies.

The Consumer Technology Association (CTA), the organizer of CES, evaluates technology, design, and innovation of innovative products worldwide and awards the Best of Innovation to the products and services with the highest scores.

This year, a total of 23 products from 20 companies were selected for the Best of Innovation Award across 28 innovation categories including smart home, mobile devices, and health.

In terms of the number of products, Korean products accounted for 12 (52%), surpassing the host country, the United States. In terms of the number of companies, 9 out of 20 (45%) received the Best of Innovation Award, marking a remarkable achievement.

Notably, among the 9 Korean companies that won the Best of Innovation Award, 5 were ventures and startups, which is the highest record to date. The ventures and startups awarded the Best of Innovation include Dot, Microsystem, Versys, Zcrypto, and Graphin Square.

Lee Young, Minister of SMEs and Startups, stated, "While visiting other countries' booths at CES, I confirmed that our policy direction of fostering deep tech companies and globalizing ventures and startups aligns with the global trend."

Meanwhile, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups plans to hold a 'Review Seminar' next month to explore major trends and implications of global SMEs and venture companies that participated in CES 2023 and to provide a networking opportunity to share the achievements of participating companies.
