SPC "100% Compliance with Ministry of Labor Safety and Labor Inspection Results"

[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] SPC announced on the 16th that it has completed all corrective actions related to the results of the Ministry of Employment and Labor's planned inspection announced on December 27 last year.

SPC began immediate improvements on the issues pointed out during the Ministry of Employment and Labor's investigation and has completed all measures for a total of 277 cases related to industrial safety and 116 cases related to labor supervision.

Regarding industrial safety, SPC installed additional interlocking devices, safety railings, safety nets, and safety covers, expanded related facilities, and improved processes by eliminating risk factors. In addition, concerning labor supervision, all wages and allowances that were overpaid due to lack of understanding of the system were rechecked and paid, and all procedures related to maternity protection and extended working hours were reexamined and measures were taken to ensure no violations occurred.

SPC plans to brief the results of these measures and conduct verification and inspection by the committee at the Safety Management Committee meeting scheduled for the 18th.

An SPC official said, “As a result of labor and management cooperating to create a safe workplace, we were able to respond quickly to the Ministry of Employment and Labor's inspection results. Going forward, based on labor-management cooperation, we will establish a ‘self-regulatory prevention system’ to identify and prevent harmful and dangerous factors, and foster a culture that respects and cares for employees to transform into the ‘New (NEW) SPC.’”
