On this day, "All Quiet on the Western Front" (Germany), "Argentina, 1985" (Argentina), "Bardo, False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths" (Mexico), "Close" (Belgium), and "Decision to Leave" (Korea) were nominated for Best Foreign Language Film. Director Park Chan-wook's win was unfortunately unsuccessful.

"RRR: Rise Roar Revolt" is an action film set in the 1920s during the British Raj in India, depicting the story of two protagonists inspired by real historical figures who resisted British rule. It was directed and written by S. S. Rajamouli and produced by Netflix.

The Critics Choice Awards, established in 1996, are hosted by the Critics Choice Association (CCA), a group of TV and film critics from the United States and Canada, and are considered one of the largest awards ceremonies in North America alongside the Golden Globes and the Screen Actors Guild Awards. The awards are divided into TV and film categories.

This year, the ENA drama "Extraordinary Attorney Woo" and Apple TV+ "Pachinko" were nominated in the Best Foreign Language Drama category.

"Decision to Leave" is a film that portrays the romance between detective Hae-joon (played by Park Hae-il) and Seo-rae (played by Tang Wei), the wife of a man who died after falling from a mountain peak. The film won the Best Director award for Park Chan-wook at the 75th Cannes Film Festival last May. It was also nominated at the Golden Globe Awards held on the 10th but did not win.

Now, Director Park Chan-wook is heading toward the Oscars. "Decision to Leave" has been shortlisted for the Best International Feature Film category at the 95th Academy Awards to be held in March, with the final nominees to be announced on the 24th. Attention is focused on whether Director Park will lift a trophy in Hollywood for the first time.
