[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Gu Daeseon] “Use public parking lots and public institution annex parking lots for free during the Lunar New Year holiday!”
Daegu City announced on the 16th that to revitalize the local commercial district and to provide convenient parking for returning visitors and citizens, the city will open public parking lots operated by the city and district/county governments, as well as public institution annex parking lots, for free during the holiday period.
The 86 public parking lots (8,562 spaces) operated by Daegu City will be open from the 20th to support holiday shopping. Additionally, district/county public parking lots and public institution annex parking lots will be open from the 21st to the 24th.
The total number of parking lots open for free during the holiday period is 650 locations with 37,010 spaces. For detailed information about the free parking lots, please refer to the bulletin board on the Daegu City website.
Also, to facilitate parking for citizens visiting traditional markets, temporary on-street parking will be allowed within the range that does not interfere with vehicle traffic and pedestrian movement. However, illegal parking and stopping around bus stops, fire facilities, and crosswalks will be strictly monitored and controlled through joint patrols by the police and district/county authorities in key areas.
Chunsik Bae, Director of the Daegu City Transportation Bureau, said, “We hope that free parking during the Lunar New Year holiday will help improve citizen convenience and revitalize the local commercial district, and we ask for cooperation with COVID-19 prevention guidelines and traffic safety rules.”
