61 Public Parking Lots Operated by the City
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Seoul City announced on the 16th that it will open 61 city-operated public parking lots free of charge to support citizen convenience and the local economy during the Year of the Rabbit Lunar New Year holiday.
The free opening period is for four days from the 21st to the 24th during the Lunar New Year holiday, and the 61 designated parking lots will be open all day, allowing citizens to use them conveniently.
Major open parking lots where passenger cars can be parked include Sincheon Yusuji, Sadang Noe, Namsan Hanok Village, Sindebang Station, Guro Digital Complex Station, Gaehwasan Station, Bokjeong Station, Daerim Station, and Oksu Station, totaling about 50 locations. Additionally, 11 tourist bus-only parking lots such as DDP (north side Majang-ro, both east sides), Namdaemun Market, Namsan Park, and Tapgol Park will also be open free of charge all day during the Lunar New Year holiday to assist tourists visiting downtown and markets.
Major parking lots such as the popular tourist spot Namsan Hanok Village, commercial area near Hangangjin Station, Sadang Noe, Bokjeong Station, and Sincheon Yusuji (Jamsilnaru Station) will be open free of charge during the holiday period to support smooth visits by citizens and revitalize the local economy. It is expected that convenient free parking will encourage spending as visitors stay in commercial areas, markets, and other local attractions.
Autonomous districts will also open public parking lots. In particular, many public parking lots near traditional markets will be opened free of charge to facilitate market use, and information can be checked on the autonomous district websites and portals.
Since the free opening status varies by autonomous district, it is helpful to check information on the district websites, social media (SNS), and portals before traveling.
Yoon Jong-jang, Director of Urban Transportation at Seoul City, said, “We will do our best to support visitors, returning residents, and tourists visiting Seoul during the holiday so they do not face parking difficulties,” and added, “We hope that the free opening of public parking lots for this holiday will contribute to revitalizing commercial districts and stabilizing livelihoods.”
