[Abu Dhabi=Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] President Yoon Suk-yeol, who is on a tour of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), visited the Ark Unit on the 15th (local time) and emphasized, "The security of our brother nation, the UAE, is our security." The UAE military cooperation unit, 'Ark Unit,' is the first overseas deployed unit for military cooperation since the establishment of our armed forces.

On this day, President Yoon visited the Ark Unit and met with the soldiers to encourage them, stating, "Your activities here directly demonstrate the defense capabilities of the Republic of Korea to the world."

In particular, President Yoon mentioned, "The most threatening country to the UAE is Iran, and our adversary is North Korea," adding, "We and the UAE are in very similar positions." He continued, "By showing the world how strong the Republic of Korea's defense power is, we can break the enemy's will to provoke. As the commander-in-chief of the armed forces, I am truly proud and very reassured."

He also delivered a message of encouragement. President Yoon said, "There may be many inconveniences due to the climate and living conditions here, which you are experiencing for the first time compared to when you were in Korea, but I hope that the training, education, and joint operation times here will be opportunities to further enhance your capabilities. As the commander-in-chief, I must meticulously ensure that all your living and training conditions are comfortable, so if there have been any shortcomings, I ask for your understanding."

First Lady Kim Geon-hee, who accompanied President Yoon, showed interest by asking a soldier wearing a ghillie suit for ambush, "Isn't it hot?" and "I think the camels would like it." When she asked, "Are there many desert foxes too?" President Yoon replied, "You know everything," to which she responded, "I mainly like animals."

Meanwhile, the unit presented President Yoon and his wife with a framed photo containing the faces of 147 Ark Unit members and honorary Ark Unit caps as gifts.
