Seodaemun-gu Selected as Top Institution in Ministry of the Interior and Safety's Comprehensive Information Disclosure Evaluation

Achieved perfect scores in information list disclosure rate, pre-information disclosure registration count, and fidelity of original information

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Seongheon) was recently selected as the best institution for two consecutive years in the ‘2022 Information Disclosure Comprehensive Evaluation’ hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.

The evaluation was conducted by an external evaluation team composed of experts recommended by related academic societies and civilian members of each institution’s Information Disclosure Committee, covering the overall 2022 information disclosure operation performance.

A total of 592 institutions were evaluated, including central administrative agencies, local governments, and public institutions.

The district received high scores evenly across four evaluation areas?pre-disclosure, original document disclosure, request processing, and customer management?and ten indicators, notably achieving perfect scores in information list disclosure rate, pre-information disclosure registration count, fidelity of original information, and customer demand analysis performance.

Specifically, the proactive addition of information that residents are curious about during pre-information disclosure through big data analysis was highly praised.

The active information disclosure that enhanced transparency and trust in district administration also led to high scores in customer satisfaction and original document disclosure rate categories.

Seodaemun-gu holds quarterly meetings to actively collect residents’ opinions to ensure that the information residents need is disclosed, and is also strengthening employee training for proper information disclosure processing.

Additionally, the disclosure rate of production documents from all departments is monitored quarterly, and compliance with the processing period for information disclosure requests submitted by residents, as well as the thoroughness of responses, are checked daily by department.

Lee Seongheon, Mayor of Seodaemun-gu, stated, “For a more transparent and trusted administration, we will do our best to continuously monitor and improve the operation of the information disclosure system in 2023, including production documents and request processing.”
