The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated on the same day, "We are verifying the exact boarding status and damage situation of the passengers." The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Nepal also reported, "There are two Koreans on the passenger list of the aircraft, and we are confirming their exact boarding status and identities."
The government has dispatched staff from the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Nepal to the crash site. Additionally, the Overseas Korean Protection Task Force has been activated at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters.
According to foreign media, the ATR72 aircraft operated by Nepal's Yeti Airlines, which took off from Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, crashed near Pokhara Airport, its destination, on the morning of the same day. The passenger plane was carrying 72 people, including 68 passengers and 4 crew members, with about 10 foreigners on board.
Reuters reported that among the foreigners were 2 Koreans, 5 Indians, and 4 Russians. Nepalese authorities are conducting rescue operations using helicopters and other means, and more than 40 bodies have been recovered at the accident site.
Indian local media reported that all 72 people on board the aircraft are presumed dead.
