Democratic Party of Korea Jeonnam Provincial Party Holds 'Youth Committee Launch Ceremony'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] The Democratic Party Jeonnam Provincial Party announced on the 15th that it held the launch ceremony of the ‘Democratic Party Jeonnam Provincial Party Youth Committee (Chairman Lee Hyun-taek, hereinafter Youth Committee)’ at 2 p.m. on the 14th in the Jeonnam Provincial Party large conference room.


At the Youth Committee launch ceremony, congratulatory speeches were delivered on-site and via video by Shin Jeong-hoon, Jeonnam Provincial Party Chairman, along with Jang Kyung-tae, Supreme Council Member; Seo Young-kyo, Supreme Council Member; Park Chan-dae, Supreme Council Member; Seo Dong-yong, National Assembly member; Seo Dong-wook, Jeollanam-do Council Chairman; Jeon Yong-gi, National Youth Committee Chairman; Song Young-gil, former party leader; Lee Dong-hak, former Supreme Council Member; Yang So-young, National University Student Committee Chair; and Kim Bo-mi, Gangjin County Council Chair.


Additionally, youth committee chairs from 14 city and provincial parties nationwide, former Jeonnam Provincial Party Youth Chairman Na Gwang-guk, Jeonnam Provincial Council member, Go Yong-jin, Yeosu City Council member, Jeonnam youth council members, and youth committee chairs from 22 cities and counties in Jeonnam continued with encouragement speeches and well-wishes.


Following this, the 22 cities and counties of Jeonnam joined hands in a unique performance called Yakson (meaning “Promise, Joining Hands”) to attract attention by symbolizing their commitment to solving current issues together.

About 130 people, including young party members, attended the event.


The Jeonnam Provincial Party Youth Committee, chaired by Lee Hyun-taek, operates under the slogan ‘Youth at the Center, Strong Democratic Party’ and is organized into △Advisory Group △Vice Chairpersons △Spokespersons △Secretariat △Policy Bureau △Organization Bureau △Planning Bureau △Public Relations and Communication Bureau △Youth Policy Research Institute △Talent Development Committee △Subcommittees △Special Committees.


Lee Hyun-taek, who prepared the event, said, “The Jeonnam Provincial Party faces two crises. One is disappointment in the Democratic Party, and the other is population decline and local extinction,” adding, “To overcome this, policies must change to be youth-centered in all areas.”


He further stated, “Our youth must unite their strength to ensure that major events in Jeonnam this year, such as the 2023 Suncheonman International Garden Expo and the National Sports Festival, become successful events.”


Shin Jeong-hoon, Provincial Party Chairman, emphasized, “If the Jeonnam Provincial Party is renewed and innovated, it can create hope for our Democratic Party,” and added, “For this, the Jeonnam Provincial Party Youth Committee must take the lead in driving that change and innovation.”


Assemblyman Seo Dong-yong highlighted the importance of education, saying, “We must nurture capable young party members to grow into politicians whom residents can trust and entrust.”


He also stressed, “The future of Jeollanam-do depends on the youth,” and “The Jeonnam Provincial Party must work hard to make Jeollanam-do a place where youth can live well.”


Seo Dong-wook, former Jeonnam Provincial Council Chairman, said, “Creating jobs and medical welfare infrastructure for youth is of utmost importance for Jeonnam’s future,” and added, “We are making an all-out effort to attract a medical school.”


The Jeonnam Provincial Party Youth Committee plans to play a proactive role for a sustainable Jeollanam-do by reflecting the aspirations of young party members that ‘youth must be at the center for the future of the Jeonnam Provincial Party and Jeollanam-do,’ including discovering and proposing agendas related to Jeollanam-do and youth policy issues.


Meanwhile, it plans to take the lead in discovering various youth policies and agendas for Jeonnam youth, seeking solutions, and implementing them in solidarity with youth nationwide.
