Complete Renovation of Yangcheon-gu Singi, Kkotsaseum, and Eunhaengjeong Children's Parks

Singi Children's Park Transformed into a ‘Forest Playground’ with Large Mounding and Play Facilities in Various Colors

Ggot-saseum & Eunhaengjeong Children's Parks Create Safe Play Spaces with Durable Acacia Wood Play Equipment, Eco-friendly Elastic Pavement, and Bright Lighting

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Lee Gi-jae) has newly renovated three children's parks?Singi and Ggot-saseum Children's Parks in Sinjeong 3-dong and Eunhaengjeong Children's Park in Sinjeong 4-dong?that had low usage rates and safety risks due to aging facilities, into urban play spaces that cater to all generations.

Since their initial establishment, these parks had only undergone partial repairs focused on maintenance, but the aging facilities still posed safety threats despite regular upkeep, highlighting the need for comprehensive renovation.

Accordingly, the district aims to revitalize residents' daily lives by creating themed play facilities with ensured safety.

Singi Children's Park (Sinjeong 3-dong 1260), located near Sinmok-dong Apartments, has been transformed into a ‘Forest Playground’ by fully utilizing the terrain features connected to the dense forest area. The play equipment made of cozy wooden materials provides an emotional satisfaction as if being in a forest. Additionally, the ‘large mounding’ created by terrain variation overcomes the spatial monotony of the previous flat ground, and various colored elastic pavement, toddler slides, and swings have been installed to support children's development.

Furthermore, outdoor exercise equipment and resting areas have been expanded so that all generations, from youth to seniors, can use the space.

Moreover, 2,000 new plants of four species including Jasanhong were planted, and tree pruning was conducted to reduce shaded areas, securing sunlight rights for residents and creating a bright green space.

At Ggot-saseum (Sinjeong 3-dong 1195) and Eunhaengjeong (Sinjeong 4-dong 975-30) Children's Parks located in residential areas, durable play equipment (combination play sets, swings, seesaws, rocking toys) made from acacia wood was introduced along with eco-friendly elastic pavement. In addition, park lighting was fully upgraded to transform the space into a bright area free from crime and safety blind spots even late at night.

Rest areas such as shaded shelters were doubled in size, and old small outdoor exercise equipment was replaced with multifunctional types to provide a comfortable fitness space. Along with this, tree pruning was performed to allow sunlight in winter and provide shade in summer, and 5,270 plants of seven species including arrowwood and Forsythia, as well as 230 evergreen shrubs, were planted to make these parks beloved local spots to visit all year round.

Lee Gi-jae, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, said, “I hope the three newly renovated children's parks will become healing places for residents and play meccas that inspire children’s boundless dreams and healthy growth.”
