Water Supply Pipe Burst in Hongje-dong Causes Water Outage for 300 Nearby Households

Residents in the Hongje-dong area of Seoul are experiencing inconvenience due to a burst water supply pipe.

On the 14th, the Seoul Metropolitan Waterworks Headquarters announced that a 300mm diameter water supply pipe burst in front of an apartment in Hongje-dong, Seodaemun-gu (134 Segumjeong-ro) the previous day, causing a leak.

Although repair work began, restoration was delayed due to issues such as installing bypass pipes, resulting in a water outage affecting 300 households nearby starting from 7 a.m. that day. The outage is scheduled to last until 2 p.m. but may change depending on on-site conditions such as repairs.

There was also a water supply pipe burst accident near Wangsimni Station in Seongdong-gu, Seoul. Around 8 a.m. that day, a water supply pipe burst at the Wangsimni Station five-way intersection, flooding parts of the road and sidewalks.

Water supply was cut off around 8:30 a.m., and emergency repair work began, cutting off water supply to 40 households in nearby multi-family houses and villas. Nearby apartment complexes are supplying water through their own water facilities.
