Toyota Ranks No.1 in Global New Car Sales for Three Consecutive Years

Sales Expected to Exceed 10 Million Units Last Year

[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Gyumin] Japan's Toyota has secured the number one spot in the global new car sales market for three consecutive years. On the 13th, Yomiuri Shimbun reported that Toyota Motor Corporation Group, including Daihatsu Motor and Hino Motors, sold 9.56 million new cars worldwide from January to November last year.


Toyota is expected to announce its full-year results at the end of this month. It is projected to exceed 10 million units sold for the second consecutive year.

Meanwhile, German Volkswagen announced yesterday that its sales volume decreased by 7% from the previous year to 8.26 million units last year, ranking second. Excluding Daihatsu Motor and Hino Motors, Toyota sold 8.72 million units from January to November last year, surpassing the Volkswagen Group.


Toyota returned to the top spot in global automobile sales in 2020 after five years and has maintained its number one position since then.
