Yeongyang-gun Holds Information Session for Farmers on Foreign Seasonal Worker Program

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] Yeongyang-gun, Gyeongbuk held a 2023 Foreign Seasonal Worker Farm Briefing Session at the Yeongyang Culture and Sports Center on the 13th.


The briefing session was prepared to explain the seasonal worker project procedures, employer compliance requirements, and measures in case of unauthorized departure, attended by about 200 farm owners and 6 town and township officials.


This year, the Ministry of Justice allocation status for Yeongyang-gun's foreign seasonal worker project is 830 workers for 200 farms, which is a 70% increase compared to last year, indicating a significant expansion of the project scale.


Accordingly, the county plans to introduce foreign workers by signing MOUs with a total of three sessions: one E-8 visa (5 months) and two C-4 visas (3 months), and for family invitations of marriage immigrants, one to two sessions of E-8 visas (5 months) will be promoted.

The foreign seasonal worker project is being promoted to solve labor shortages during the busy farming season caused by population decline and aging, and the county is accelerating the project implementation in 2023.


County Governor Oh Do-chang said, “The foreign seasonal worker project is an indispensable project to solve labor shortages during the busy farming season. I ask for the active cooperation of farm owners for the project promotion, and we will do our best to stabilize labor costs and resolve labor shortages during the busy farming season by promoting the early introduction of foreign seasonal workers.”
