Hyundai Motor Produces 82,000 Units in Indonesia in One Year...Ranks 6th

Hyundai Motor Company produced over 82,000 units within one year of fully operating its production plant in Indonesia, ranking 6th in the Indonesian market.

[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Gyumin] Hyundai Motor Company ranked 6th in the Indonesian market by producing over 82,000 vehicles just one year after fully operating its production plant in Indonesia.

On the 13th (local time), the Indonesian Automotive Industry Association announced that Hyundai Motor Indonesia produced 82,416 units last year, surpassing Isuzu (44,694 units) to rank 6th. Its market share was 5.6%.

Based on production volume, the top in Indonesia was Toyota, which produced 602,419 units (41.0%), followed by Daihatsu (201,958 units, 13.7%) and Mitsubishi (153,102 units, 10.4%).

Toyota also ranked first in sales last year with 331,410 units sold (31.6%). Daihatsu (202,665 units, 19.3%) and Honda (131,280 units, 12.5%) ranked 2nd and 3rd respectively.

By model, the Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) Creta, which began sales early last year, sold 15,419 units, and the Small Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) Stargazer, launched in August last year, sold 9,778 units. The Ioniq 5, the first electric vehicle produced in Indonesia, sold 1,845 units.

Regarding the Stargazer, it was selected as Car of the Year by the Indonesian automotive media Gridoto last year, and with 2,693 units sold last month, it ranked as the 9th best-selling car in Indonesia.

Hyundai Motor established its first ASEAN region complete vehicle production plant in Bekasi, Indonesia, and began full-scale production last year. Currently, it is producing the Creta, Stargazer, and Ioniq 5.

At the G20 Summit held in Bali, Indonesia, last November, the Genesis G80 electrified model was officially selected as the protocol vehicle.
