[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Hong Joon-pyo, Mayor of Daegu and Standing Advisor of the People Power Party, criticized former lawmaker Na Kyung-won for resigning from her position as Vice Chair of the Low Birthrate and Aging Society Committee while expressing her intention to run in the party convention, yet not relinquishing her role as Climate Ambassador.
On the 13th, Mayor Hong wrote on his social media, "Is the intention to return only one of the two minister-level positions received and still cling to the other one, continuing to test the waters?"
Former lawmaker Na resigned from the Vice Chair position of the Low Birthrate and Aging Society Committee on the same day, just three months after receiving the appointment letter in October. She also posted on social media, "Even if a rock blocks the river, the water flows to the sea," signaling her intention to run.
However, Mayor Hong raised concerns that she has not yet given up the Climate Ambassador position, which she received around the same time. He said, "Or is it that the Climate and Environment Ambassador position is a convenient role for traveling abroad, so she wants to keep it?" He added, "I hope she stops the indecisive politics that wander around with lingering attachments. That’s something only amateurs do."
He continued, "Is she going to act like when she was waiting to see whether to join the Bareun Party during the impeachment or just sit still? I hope she handles herself cleanly from now on."
Previously, Mayor Hong had anonymously criticized former lawmaker Na on social media, calling her "a weeping willow who led the impeachment, tried to move on but stayed because she wasn’t given the floor leader position, waited for an opportunity, and then colluded with the pro-Jae Park faction to enter the party leadership."
