Ulsan Ulju-gun Bosam Film Village Memorial Hall, Visitor Numbers Double

Rimorelling Transforms into a Complex Cultural Space

Reached 3,000 Visitors Last Year

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] The number of visitors to Bosam Film Village Memorial Hall in Samdong-myeon, Ulju-gun, Ulsan City nearly doubled compared to the previous year.

According to Ulju-gun on the 13th, the number of visitors to Bosam Film Village Memorial Hall last year was recorded at 2,991, nearly twice the 1,597 visitors in 2021.

In addition, in a user satisfaction survey, most respondents answered that they were very satisfied (87.37%) or satisfied (8.87%), receiving positive feedback.

Previously, before the COVID-19 pandemic in 2019, the number of visitors to Bosam Film Village Memorial Hall was 4,031, but it sharply declined to 385 in 2020 after the outbreak.

Accordingly, Ulju-gun decided to create a small-scale complex cultural space through remodeling the memorial hall in line with the post-COVID-19 era, and remodeling construction was carried out from November 2020 to April 2021.

Transformed into a complex cultural space, Bosam Film Village Memorial Hall now houses a movie theater and an e-sports experience space on the first floor, while the second floor is equipped with books and board game areas.

It is equipped with 365 movie DVDs, 17 e-sports games, 567 books of various genres, and 32 types of board games.

After remodeling, it has become known as a quiet tourist destination suitable for the COVID era, attracting visitors of various age groups, from families with infants and toddlers to couples and seniors.

Bosam Film Village Memorial Hall operates from Wednesday to Sunday, accepting reservations for only one group per session, with three sessions per day. Reservations can be made through the Ulju Tourism website or by phone.

An official from Ulju-gun said, “As small-scale private leisure culture has become popular due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Bosam Film Village Memorial Hall offers a space exclusively for users, resulting in high satisfaction. We hope that everyone who visits will leave precious memories.”

Bosam Village in Samdong-myeon has well preserved the typical rural scenery of the 1970s and 1980s, attracting attention as a filming location for movies such as ‘Bpong’ and ‘Ssibari’ in the past.

Later, it was designated as one of the 10 ‘Hometowns of Film’ by the Korean Film Archive, and in September 2014, a memorial hall was opened for historical recording and preservation.
