Gwangju Nam-gu 'Integrated Library Website' Completely Revamped

On the 13th, Nam-gu announced that it has greatly strengthened key features such as an integrated content management system based on the e-government standard framework, a search engine, and responsive web design optimized for smart devices.

The reason for overhauling the website is that the book search speed and page transition speed were slow, and there was no information and communication accessibility function on the website, causing great inconvenience for people with disabilities and low vision when using the site.

Additionally, the need for a website revamp had been continuously raised because the site was not optimized for various web browsers such as Chrome and Microsoft Edge, as well as smart devices like tablets and mobiles.

Accordingly, Nam-gu invested about 55 million KRW in the second half of last year and plans to launch a new website from the 16th that supports smooth services on various smart devices, improves web trends and accessibility, including a book search engine.

The most significant change through the complete website overhaul is the installation of a search engine using open source, which has sped up book searches.

Also, the main screen structure was changed focusing on frequently used content such as book request and interlibrary loan, enhancing user-centered information accessibility, and a responsive web design optimized for web browsers like Chrome and Microsoft Edge and mobile environments was built, improving user convenience.

A Nam-gu official stated, “The new Nam-gu integrated library website we are introducing this time has improved all the shortcomings of the existing website,” adding, “With smart device compatibility and intuitive website implementation through menu reorganization, users can now access services in a more convenient environment.”
