Yeongpung Paper, Practicing Neighborly Love Through 20 Years of Holiday Sharing Activities

[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] Paper manufacturing company Youngpoong Paper (CEO Cho Sangjong) announced on the 13th that it has been sharing warmth with neighbors in the local community through consistent holiday sharing practices.

Youngpoong Paper held a community neighbor support event on the 12th in celebration of the Lunar New Year holiday. This event was planned to support the living conditions of low-income and vulnerable groups such as grandparent-headed families, single-parent families, and elderly living alone, who require relatively more attention and care within Pyeongtaek City, Gyeonggi Province, where the company is located.

Since 2003, Youngpoong Paper has been conducting community contribution activities every Lunar New Year and Chuseok holiday for 20 years to provide small help to neighbors living in hardship and loneliness. This year as well, employees and executives collected donations together and, along with company support funds, delivered gift sets worth approximately 6 million KRW consisting of daily necessities and groceries, as well as rice.

A company representative said, “We consider the company as one of the neighbors. We thought efforts are needed to help marginalized neighbors not far away but closest to us, and we hold neighbor support events with the hope that neighbors can spend a warmer and more abundant holiday.” He added, “Reflecting on the meaning of this event that has continued steadily for over 20 years, we will strive to become a company that grows together with the local community through sincere sharing activities in the future.”

Meanwhile, Youngpoong Paper has been actively engaged in community contribution activities, such as when all employees raised 40 million KRW in COVID-19 relief funds and donated it to Pyeongtaek City in 2020, when the COVID-19 outbreak began.
