Eunpyeong-gu Presents Strict Conduct Standards for Public Officials Ahead of Lunar New Year Holiday... Fostering an Integrity-Based Public Service
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) announced that it has issued this year's first "Integrity Alert" to establish public service discipline in preparation for the Lunar New Year holiday.
The "Integrity Alert" is a policy designed to preemptively block factors that may compromise the integrity of public officials during corruption-prone periods such as holidays, personnel changes, and vacation seasons, encouraging them to practice integrity on their own.
In anticipation of the national holiday Seol, the district issued this year's first "Integrity Alert" containing strict conduct standards for public officials to prevent any relaxation of public service discipline.
Guidelines regarding the value limits of holiday gifts under the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act, relevance to official duties, and compliance with the Code of Conduct for Public Officials were communicated to employees through work notices and platforms such as KakaoTalk.
Additionally, the district plans to conduct special inspections to ensure that the public service community faithfully fulfills its integrity obligations during the Lunar New Year holiday period.
The district has also established a system for reporting improper solicitations and violations of the Code of Conduct by public officials. Anyone can report through the district’s website under the "Civil Service Guide - Report Center - Improper Solicitation and Code of Conduct Violation Report" section, and the reports are immediately forwarded to the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.
Going forward, the district plans to issue "Integrity Alerts" regularly during corruption-prone periods such as holidays, personnel changes, and vacation seasons, taking the lead in establishing public service discipline.
Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, stated, "I hope that a culture of integrity, led and practiced by the public service community, will take root," and added, "We will do our best to prevent corruption to implement an administration trusted by our residents."
