[Breaking] New York Stock Market Rises on Inflation Slowdown... Nasdaq Up 0.64%

[Asia Economy New York=Special Correspondent Joselgina] Major indices of the U.S. New York Stock Exchange rose slightly on the 12th (local time) as the Consumer Price Index (CPI) increase, released that day, slowed as expected.


On that day at the New York Stock Exchange, the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed up 0.64% from the previous session. The S&P 500, centered on large-cap stocks, rose 0.34%, and the Nasdaq, focused on technology stocks, closed up 0.64%.


The CPI for December of last year, released that day, rose 6.5% compared to the same month the previous year, easing from the 7.1% increase in the prior month. This is the lowest rate of increase since October 2021. The month-over-month CPI fell 0.1%, marking the first decline since May 2020.
