LG Uplus Acquires LG HelloVision's Electric Vehicle Charging Business

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] LG Uplus is acquiring the electric vehicle (EV) charger business of its subsidiary LG HelloVision and will actively expand related operations.

On the 12th, LG HelloVision held a board meeting and announced, "LG Uplus will acquire all tangible and intangible assets related to the EV charging business." The transfer amount is 3.7 billion KRW.

LG Uplus will take over LG HelloVision's installation, operation, maintenance, and management of EV chargers, as well as the operation of charging membership services. LG HelloVision currently operates 1,300 EV charging stations primarily in multi-family housing across 23 business districts nationwide.

LG Uplus has been preparing for this by reorganizing its structure and establishing an EV Charging Business Unit led by Vice President Hyun Jun-yong. In the first half of this year, it plans to officially launch 'VoltUp,' an integrated EV charging platform application. This app provides the locations of EV charging stations and helps users make reservations to charge at their preferred times. A 24-hour call center will also be available.

Additionally, internal discussions are underway to support the construction costs of VoltUp charging stations to facilitate early market establishment of EV charging services.
