[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] The next chairman candidates for BNK Financial Group have been narrowed down to three.


The BNK Financial Group Executive Recommendation Committee (ERC) held a meeting at a hotel in Seoul on the 12th and announced that it had selected three final CEO candidates (shortlist).


The shortlist includes Kim Yun-mo (63), Vice Chairman of Notic Investment; Bin Dae-in (62), former President of Busan Bank; and An Gam-chan (59), President of Busan Bank.


Three candidates who passed the first round?Son Gyo-deok (62), former President of Gyeongnam Bank; Wi Sung-ho (64), former President of Shinhan Bank; and Lee Du-ho (65), CEO of BNK Capital?were eliminated in the second round.


The initial pool of six candidates gave presentations in Seoul from the morning on the theme of "Management Strategy and Future Vision for Sustainable Growth of the Group."


The ERC stated that after reflecting on Q&A sessions and individual interviews, three candidates who received excellent evaluations were selected as qualified candidates.


Vice Chairman Kim graduated from Daedong High School in Busan and majored in Statistics at Korea University. He has over 40 years of experience across banking and non-banking sectors, having served as head of the Capital Markets Division at Hanmi Bank and Hana Bank, President of Hana Securities, Vice Chairman of KTB Private Equity, and CEO of AJ Capital Partners.


Former President Bin joined Busan Bank in 1988 and held positions such as Head of the Northern Sales Division, Head of the Gyeongnam Regional Headquarters (Deputy President), Head of the New Financial Business Division (Deputy President), and Head of the Future Channel Division before serving as President of Busan Bank for over three years starting in 2017.


He demonstrated management capabilities in digital finance and global finance, including launching the mobile specialized bank (Some Bank), the first of its kind among regional banks.


President An joined Busan Bank in 1989 and served as Head of the Management Planning Division (Deputy President), Head of the Marketing Division, and Head of the Credit Operations Group (Deputy President) before being appointed President in 2021 through internal competition.


During his tenure, he achieved the best management performance in history, improved asset soundness, and was recognized for emphasizing communication in management.


The ERC plans to conduct in-depth interviews with the second-round candidates on the 19th and select one final candidate.


The final CEO candidate for BNK Financial Group will be approved at the shareholders' meeting in March and will assume the position of chairman.
