Return gifts will be re-donated to social welfare facilities located in Sejong-si
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Lee Sang-min, Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, visited Baengnyeong Nonghyup in Ongjin-gun, Incheon Metropolitan City on the 12th to participate in the Hometown Love Donation.
The 'Hometown Love Donation System' is a system newly implemented this year, where individuals can donate to local governments other than their registered address, and the local governments collect these donations to use for improving residents' welfare and other purposes.
Minister Lee Sang-min donated to five local governments including his hometown Iksan, previous workplaces Chungju, Wonju, Ulsan, and the security inspection site Ongjin-gun. The return gifts received from the Hometown Love Donation will be re-donated to social welfare facilities located in Sejong City in celebration of Seollal, the traditional Korean lunar new year holiday.
Minister Lee Sang-min of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety stated, “The Hometown Love Donation System, launched for the first time this year, is expected to greatly contribute to expanding local finances, revitalizing the regional economy, and balanced development.” He added, “The Ministry of the Interior and Safety will continue to make efforts to ensure the successful establishment of the Hometown Love Donation System through active promotion of the system and communication and cooperation with local governments.”
