[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Koo Dae-sun] Mungyeong City, Gyeongbuk, is recruiting residents for the local dormitories of five universities in Daegu and Gyeongbuk and the Seoul Mungyeong Dormitory to ease the economic burden of university students from Mungyeong on the 12th.

The local dormitories are dormitories where Mungyeong City supports development funds to universities and prioritizes local students in each university's local dormitory. Mungyeong City will select 100 students: 20 for Kyungpook National University, 30 for Yeungnam University, 20 for Daegu University, 20 for Keimyung University, and 10 for Kyungil University.

Applicants must have their own or their parents' address registered in Mungyeong City as of the announcement date and be enrolled (including freshmen) at the respective university.

Applications will be accepted at the administrative welfare centers of the applicant's residential eup, myeon, or dong from the 16th to February 3rd.

A Mungyeong City official stated, “The local dormitories utilize existing university dormitories. Based on double occupancy, excluding meals, the cost is set around 600,000 to 700,000 KRW per month. If there are many applicants, selection will be based on academic performance and other criteria.”

The Seoul Mungyeong Dormitory, located in Gangbuk-gu, Seoul, is operated by the Mungyeong Scholarship Foundation. It is open to students enrolled (including freshmen) at universities located in the Seoul and Gyeonggi areas whose parents have been registered residents of Mungyeong for more than one year.

The recruitment period for 26 residents for the first half of 2023 is from January 16th to January 27th, and applications can be submitted by visiting the Mungyeong Scholarship Foundation.

Mungyeong City stated, “The Seoul Mungyeong Dormitory has double occupancy rooms, and the dormitory fee is expected to be 350,000 KRW per semester.”
