[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk is operating an ‘Agricultural Products Safety Analysis Laboratory’ to ensure stable agricultural production for farmers and to enhance consumer trust in local agricultural products.
According to the city on the 12th, the Agricultural Products Safety Analysis Laboratory analyzes pesticide residues in agricultural products requested by farmers to secure the safety of local agricultural products.
It is equipped with precision analysis equipment capable of analyzing 463 pesticide residue components, and operates for pre-monitoring purposes by analyzing the components of agricultural products at the production stage before shipment, allowing adjustment of shipment timing based on the results.
Since April last year, the city has operated the Agricultural Products Safety Analysis Laboratory, analyzing over 550 cases, blocking the production of non-compliant agricultural products, thereby establishing a foundation for supplying safe food and contributing to increasing consumer trust in local agricultural products.
This year, the city plans to expand the number of pesticide residue analyses by additionally introducing analysis equipment (LC-MS/MS).
Farmers wishing to undergo safety inspections can visit the Agricultural Products Safety Analysis Laboratory with agricultural product samples (1?3 kg) taken 10?14 days before shipment and farmer certification documents (agricultural management registration certificate) to apply.
The city has made the analysis service free of charge to promote the use of the laboratory and reduce the cost burden on farmers.
A city official said, “We will continue to do our best to establish a foundation for supplying safe food by providing scientific farming services so that farmers can farm with peace of mind and consumers can purchase agricultural products with confidence.”
