Exam Candidates and Music Academy Director Indicted Without Detention
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Taewon] A former Yonsei University College of Music professor, who was arrested on charges of leaking practical exam pieces to a student while conducting illegal private tutoring, has been indicted while in custody.
The Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office announced on the 12th that former Yonsei University professor A was arrested and indicted on the 10th on charges of violating the Academy Act and obstruction of business. Student B, who received the practical exam pieces, and music academy director C, who is accused of requesting the leak, were indicted without detention.
According to the prosecution, A is accused of informing student B, whom he tutored privately last August, in advance about the designated pieces for the practical exam of Yonsei University, where he was serving as a professor. Investigations revealed that A committed the crime after receiving a request from C.
Earlier, posts appeared on online communities related to music college admissions stating that the designated pieces for Yonsei University College of Music's practical exam had been leaked before the admission guidelines were publicly released. When the issue surfaced, Yonsei University changed all the exam pieces, formed a fact-finding committee, and requested a police investigation.
