Apple and Meta, the leading big tech companies in the United States, have been excluded from the 'Top 100 Best Places to Work in America.'

According to Glassdoor, an anonymous workplace review platform in the U.S., on the 11th, Apple and Meta did not make the list of the 'Top 100 Best Places to Work in 2023.' This is the first time since the survey began in 2009 that Apple has failed to rank. Meta, which had entered the rankings since 2011 and topped the list three times, also dropped out. Both companies were on the list last year.

It is analyzed that Apple lost favor after pressuring employees to return to the office. Glassdoor stated, "Employees place great importance on whether remote or hybrid work is possible," and "(Apple's) demand for office return was not welcomed."

Meta lost employee support after CEO Mark Zuckerberg's ambitious metaverse project failed to produce significant results and the company announced plans to lay off 11,000 employees last year. Glassdoor analyzed, "The company's strategy did not inspire confidence among employees, and the large-scale layoffs discouraged employees and negatively impacted the corporate brand."

Companies Maintaining Rankings Every Year, '2 Companies'

Since the survey began, only two companies have consistently ranked within the top 100 every year. They are Alphabet's subsidiary Google and consulting firm Bain & Company. Glassdoor selects and announces the top 100 best workplaces annually from companies with over 1,000 employees that have received more than 75 reviews per year. The criterion is the average rating given by employees over the past year.

This year, the number one spot was taken by Gainsight, a tech company founded in 2009. Its transparent leadership, remote work options, and unlimited paid leave were cited as advantages. Other tech companies such as NVIDIA (3rd) and ServiceNow (9th) also ranked highly. Consulting firms Bain & Company, McKinsey, and Boston Consulting Group (BCG) were included in the top 10. In-N-Out Burger also made the list.

Daniel Zhao, Glassdoor's Chief Economist, explained, "While the popularity of tech companies remains strong, there were significant ranking changes," adding, "Opportunities may arise for promising companies during times of crisis."
