Namhae-gun Promotes 'Neighbor Helping Focus Campaign' for Lunar New Year... Supporting Marginalized Groups

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Song Jong-gu] Namhae-gun, Gyeongnam Province, is promoting the "2023 Lunar New Year Neighbor Helping Intensive Campaign" from the 9th to the 25th in cooperation with related organizations and groups in the region to celebrate the Lunar New Year holiday.

Each department, institution, and organization plans to autonomously purchase local specialties and local currency to create an atmosphere of participation in comforting neighbors in need.

In particular, Namhae-gun plans to focus on supporting vulnerable groups who are easily marginalized to ensure there are no blind spots in welfare.

Additionally, during this period, the county will independently purchase and provide rice and daily necessities to vulnerable groups in towns and townships, veterans' families, and social welfare facilities.

Warm sharing from related organizations continues, with Gyeongnam Bank donating local currency worth 4 million won to support 80 low-income households in Namhae-gun, and the Gyeongnam Community Chest of Korea preparing 20 million won in donations to provide 50,000 won each to 400 low-income vulnerable households.

County Governor Jang Chung-nam said, "We will strive to provide practical help to vulnerable groups such as elderly people who may be isolated during the holidays and single-parent families," and added, "We ask for the interest and cooperation of all residents so that neighbors around us can feel warm affection through care and attention."
