SH Corporation and Seongdong-gu Join Hands to Improve Housing Environment for Vulnerable Groups

[Asia Economy Reporter Onyu Lim] Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation (SH Corporation) and Seongdong-gu are creating a residential environment where vulnerable housing groups can live safely.

SH Corporation and Seongdong-gu Office announced on the 11th that they signed a "Business Agreement for Creating a Safe Residential Environment for Vulnerable Housing Groups" on the 10th.

Through this agreement, the two organizations promised to expand housing welfare services and establish a detailed housing safety net for vulnerable housing groups living in environments susceptible to various disasters, such as goshiwon, rooftop rooms, and semi-basements.

To this end, they plan to operate regular housing counseling centers to provide one-stop housing welfare services including identification, counseling, support, and linkage for vulnerable housing groups, and manage all stages organically, including post-management such as housing cost support for settlement. In addition, they will improve the poor housing conditions of vulnerable housing groups by linking with projects such as the Hope Home Repair Project and the Single-Person Household Housing Management Service Project.

An SH Corporation official explained, "We plan to provide tailored information on public rental housing, housing benefits, and housing welfare services to vulnerable housing groups residing in Seongdong-gu and related agency practitioners, and also eliminate information blind spots."

Furthermore, they plan to actively discover and promote cooperative projects that supply public rental housing optimized for local characteristics and demand, and help tenants settle stably.

Jung Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, "This was a meaningful occasion where the autonomous district and public corporation signed an agreement to realize housing welfare, and we will do our best to succeed as a representative city of housing welfare."

Kim Heon-dong, President of SH Corporation, said, "We will supply quality housing to stabilize the housing of vulnerable groups," and added, "Furthermore, we will actively cooperate with Seongdong-gu to promote various projects for the ten million citizens of Seoul and residents of Seongdong-gu."
