Listening to the Report on the Implementation Plan for Major Military Government Tasks

The Geochang County Council in Gyeongnam is holding its first extraordinary session meeting.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The Geochang County Council in Gyeongnam opened the 268th extraordinary session from the 11th to the 18th, starting the first session of 2023.

This extraordinary session plans to listen to reports on the implementation plans of major county government tasks for 2023 and handle four ordinance bills and general agendas.

Chairman Lee Hong-hee said in the opening remarks, "In 2023, we will faithfully perform the council's original role by checking and monitoring the executive branch to ensure that county administration moves in the right direction, reflecting the will of the residents. We will closely cooperate with the executive branch on matters that benefit the residents."

He added, "Jubisuburhaeng (舟非水不行) ? just as a boat cannot move without water, politics and administration have no meaning without residents."

Following the opening ceremony, the first plenary session included 5-minute free speeches by Councilors Kim Hyang-ran and Shin Jung-yang.

The first speaker, Councilor Kim Hyang-ran, spoke on the topic "Let us join the path to national compensation for the victims of the Geochang Incident."

Since the Supreme Court overturned and remanded the ruling that dismissed the damages claim lawsuit filed by the bereaved families of the "Geochang Incident," opening the way for national compensation, she proposed urging Geochang County and the council to expedite the enactment of the special bill related to the Geochang Incident, which is currently pending in the National Assembly.

Following her, Councilor Shin Jung-yang spoke on the topic "Expansion of parking facilities at the county office and town office is no longer a matter to delay," pointing out the chronic parking shortage at the county office and town office, and urged the executive branch to expand parking facilities, including constructing a 3-4 story parking building.

Starting with this extraordinary session, the 2023 Geochang County Council's legislative activities, which aim to promote the development of Geochang County through communication and cooperation with the executive branch, are highly anticipated.
