Introduction to Lectures by Policy Departments and Southeast Region Fine Dust Reduction Research Project
National Pukyong University held the 2023 Fine Dust Management Specialized Graduate School Workshop.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] On the afternoon of the 10th, Pukyong National University held the 2023 Fine Dust Management Specialized Graduate School Workshop titled “Integrated Industry-Academia-Research-Government Workshop for Shifting the Direction of Fine Dust Education in the Era of Policy Transformation” at the main auditorium on the first floor of the Environmental Marine Hall.
The event, hosted by the Pukyong National University Fine Dust Management Specialized Graduate School Project Group (Director Youngmin Noh), was held over two days starting that day, with participation from officials of the Nakdong River Basin Environmental Office, National Fine Dust Information Center, National Institute of Environmental Research, Chungnam Research Institute, Next-Generation Convergence Technology Institute, Korea Institute of Energy Technology, Seoul Institute of Technology, Gangneung-Wonju National University, and other institutions.
This workshop was organized to mark the third year of the Fine Dust Management Specialized Graduate School project, inviting stakeholders from fine dust-related institutions to evaluate the achievements of the specialized graduate school, explore future directions, and derive practical cooperation measures.
Since being selected in 2020 for the Ministry of Environment and Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute’s Fine Dust Specialized Graduate School project, Pukyong National University has operated specialized educational programs aimed at cultivating industry-tailored experts in fine dust reduction and management, measurement and modeling, and remote monitoring at the master’s and doctoral levels.
The workshop began with a special invited lecture by Donggon Hong, head of the Nakdong River Basin Environmental Office, followed by sessions for policy departments, research institutes, and universities.
Subsequently, master’s and doctoral students participating in the project presented eight “Research Projects for Fine Dust Reduction in the Southeastern Region,” which were promoted as industry-academia-research-linked projects together with their advisors and participating companies.
