[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] Yeongam-gun announced on the 11th that it will pay the basic pension at the increased amount starting this month, following the increase in the basic pension benefit amount this year.
The standard pension amount for this year, increased by 5.1% compared to last year, will provide a maximum of 323,180 KRW per single-person household and a maximum of 517,080 KRW per couple household.
The eligibility criteria have been relaxed from 1.8 million KRW to 2.02 million KRW for single-person households, and from 2.88 million KRW to 3.232 million KRW for couple households.
The basic pension can be applied for by the individual or a proxy by visiting the local town or township office or the National Pension Service branch, or online through ‘Bokjiro’.
County Governor Woo Seung-hee said, “The increase in the basic pension amount and the expansion of the eligible recipients will greatly help stabilize the lives of the elderly,” adding, “We will actively promote and guide so that all residents can receive the benefits without omission according to the expanded criteria.”
