Jeongeup-si Provides 'Disaster Relief Funds' to Residents Affected by Heavy Snowfall

[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City, Jeonbuk Province, announced on the 11th that it has urgently allocated 1.39 billion won from contingency funds before national and provincial subsidies were confirmed, and will promptly provide disaster relief funds before the Lunar New Year holiday so that residents affected by heavy snowfall can stabilize early.

This disaster relief fund is an amount provided by the national or local government to residents who have suffered damage to private property such as houses or agricultural and livestock facilities due to natural disasters.

The city plans to provide disaster relief funds after verifying the main livelihood means, policy insurance subscription, and duplication of support based on the damage reports registered in the National Disaster Management Information System (NDMS).

With this measure, affected residents will be able to receive support in advance before the recovery plan is finalized.

There were no casualties reported from the heavy snowfall damage.

According to the damage reports confirmed by the National Disaster Management Information System, private facilities suffered property damage totaling 4.341 billion won, including ▲2 partially damaged houses (52 million won) ▲401 damaged forestry facilities (1.867 billion won) ▲62 damaged livestock facilities (2.016 billion won) ▲3 deaths (15 pigs, 260 bee colonies) ▲2 damaged fish farms (5 million won) ▲5 damaged commercial factories (400 million won) ▲130 crop damages (5.42 hectares).

Mayor Lee Hak-su said, “We have decided to provide disaster relief funds in advance so that citizens suffering from heavy snowfall damage can return to their daily lives as soon as possible,” and added, “We will proceed with administrative procedures swiftly to ensure that the disaster relief funds are paid before the Lunar New Year holiday.”
