[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] A gathering will be held where officials from the central government, local governments, and specialized institutions come together to create a safe and convenient country through addresses and to further consider creating future industries using addresses as a resource.


The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 11th that from tomorrow until the 13th, a 1-night 2-day "2023 Joint Address Policy Training (Workshop)" will be held in Sejong Special Self-Governing City, with about 300 address-related officials from 17 local governments nationwide and specialized institutions (Korea Land and Geospatial Informatix Corporation, Address Intelligence Information Experts Forum, Address-Based Industry Association) participating.


During this joint training (workshop), the key promotion tasks and plans for the 2023 address policy based on the 1st Basic Plan for Address Information Utilization established last year will be shared. Additionally, five presentations of excellent policy cases promoted by local governments last year and special lectures will be conducted.


At this event, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety will announce ▲ securing momentum for address policy promotion, three-dimensional address reference system, expansion of detailed national address information, creation of an address intelligence information ecosystem, establishment of a digital address information platform, and address-based industry creation tasks, and present the outlook (vision) for this year’s address policy.


In particular, the current status of the national agenda’s digital platform government leading project, "Service Innovation such as AI Robot Delivery with Smart Addresses," will be shared, and cooperation from related institutions and local governments will be requested to steadily promote service innovations that citizens can feel in their daily lives step by step.


To share excellent address policy cases promoted by local governments, presentations of five outstanding cases will be held, including the promotional case of "Production and Distribution of Road Name Origin Comic Booklets" promoted by Dalseong-gun, Daegu, and the policy of "Reflecting Basic Number Database (DB) in the Fire and Police System’s Own Operating System" promoted by Cheonan City, Chungnam.


Furthermore, not only sharing address policies between central and local governments but also introducing the work and future plans of the Korea Land and Geospatial Informatix Corporation’s newly established Address Information Utilization Support Center, which supports the promotion of industries related to address information utilization starting this year, will be shared to establish a more systematic support system for address policy promotion.


Meanwhile, at this event, an awards ceremony will also be held for local governments that have led pilot projects supporting the address-based drone and autonomous robot delivery, indoor navigation, and other address information industries in 2022, as well as for contributors to the development of address work such as maintenance and management of address information facilities.


Choi Hoon, Director of the Local Autonomy Balanced Development Office at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, said, “Addresses, which were used to find homes as a basis of daily life, have increased their role as a ‘core means of location communication’ between people and people, and between people and robots in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution,” and added, “We will join forces with local governments for a new leap forward in address policy,” urging cooperation.
